ON THE STREET

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Last Thursday, me and my buddy Chris hit the streets of Jeffersonville. We were looking to get some feedback from people on a little thing coming up in a few weeks. You may have heard of it…, NO! not Thunder Over Louisville….Easter! Or maybe you haven’t? I did meet some people who didn’t really know much about Easter. They definitely didn’t know what it is that we celebrate, which is Christ’s being raised from the dead. Every time I see clips from The Passion or other movies that depict the crucifixion, I can’t handle it. It is so emotionally gut-wrenching for me, it takes me an hour to get right. But man, does it bring things into focus! It certainly helps me remember, envision and connect with Good Friday and Easter. I can remember when I was young that this was one of the few times I attended church during the year. And even then it was only to appease my parental units. Now, I can’t imagine not worshipping God and Jesus somewhere, somehow and someway every Easter! We have alot of cool and relative applications on Easter Sunday this year. I am excited to see how each of them will connect with all of the different people who will catch a service at ECC. There are a few that I am praying for specifically, that maybe they will swing by and visit with us. Hopefully they will at least come with open hearts and minds. I think God can do alot with that.

…AND SO IT BEGINS…

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

And here…we…go! To quote Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Well we have started throwing some dirt around out front and I am excited to see the foundation and the metal start up. Sunday was another awesome day of services at ECC. I didn’t really know if I was gonna be focused enough after a week of moving and taxes! :0 But everything was great. Definitely anointed and blessed by the man upstairs. Theo Cook “hit a home run”, what we in the church field like to call it, with his special. Killer stuff bro. Another crazy week ahead of us, but looking forward to Sunday, makes it all worth while. Stay up everybody. Probably run into you on Facebook. Peace!

GOD HAS A PLAN & GROUND BREAKING

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

AWESOME! That is all I can muster up sometimes when I have to try and put into words all of the ways that I see God moving in and around my life. Services this morning just had some sort of electricity about them. It was like everyone knew what was going down today and they came ready to worship. I think that is so cool and important because with everything that God was doing today, I knew they devil would be looking for an opportunity to knock us down. But man, we were rocking from the first chord, to the small group discussion, to the infamous picture of Dave Hastings with my lovely locks! It was a good day. Good times! And that was only a third of it!

Our second annual Creative Arts Meeting, “God Has A Plan” was alot of fun. I ate way too many nachos. Man, do I love Qdoba! I’m excited about all of the creative things God will conjure up through us this year. And last but certainly not least, the hundreds of people gathering out front on the lawn for the ground breaking of our state of the art worship auditorium. It has been an interesting journey and huge learning experience to be a part of this process. It was so cool to see everyone dropping the scripture cards in the box and then to see Theo and Larry drop the goods! That was pretty funny, but nice recovery guys, LOL!

All in all, a day to remember. Good times my friends, good times….peace!
